A place where Ancient Ancient armies can peacefully retire to...
Possibly.
Oh, and some pulp. A few things on 6mm SciFi tanks and stuff. And the toy soldiers. Especially the War of 1897... And now I seem to be starting on 20mm Napoleonics as well!

Minifigs Medusas and demons
Going through 'odd' figures I've got lying around. This lot are by Minifigs, Matchlock Miniatures Sword and Sorcery range plus Classic Fantasy and Science Fiction range..
Quite like these two. Granted, they are dated and overpriced but they have a certain charm. (I may be biased but I much prefer the Garrison S&S Range figures. Also Minifigs charge a premium for fantasy figures over historical ranges which I personal dislike when it includes bulk figures)
Always like seeing old school figures and the one on show here are rather nice I must admit, have to agree with you about the Minifig pricing system, certainly puts me off buying them.
Tried to get them (again) to bring out the old S Range Ancients - flat refusal on all my offers, seems they need to sell at least 700 of any code to be profitible. I charge half as much and I've covered the mould cost after about 300 figures per mould!
Always had a soft spot for Minifigs fantasy figures - though, to be fair, the Garrison interpretation of Hyboria was generally more interesting - ever since seeing the advert that accompanied the first part of “Valley of the Four Winds” (White Dwarf 8?) when I was a kid. Hugely pleased when they were re-released…..until I saw the prices!
I used some of the S&S Range - Picts etc - in my Persian army in the 70s. Just ordinary figures, today ones like SS50 Pict light infantry http://www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk/images/catalogue/SS50.jpg cost £3.25. Frankly, there is no way that it is worth that much!
I am not a huge fan of old school figures, generally, but these are quite nice, Rob.
ReplyDeleteSome rubbish old school figures, but quite a few have a lot more character than some of the modern ones.
